“It’s important to understand as writers or as anything else, that ‘no,’ as destructive as it is, is much less powerful than ‘yes.’ You can get turned down a hundred times by agents and publishers and have your dreams crushed and strewn across the landscape. Get out that broom, dustpan, and epoxy, put everything back together, and try again. And again. One ‘yes’ will outweigh each ‘no’ and will blow them away.” – Joe Hartlaub
That is so true

Maria,
It certainly is for me. The rewrites and rejections fade away in my memory once a piece is accepted.

Excellent spin on life.
Children should certainly be taught examples of the many who struggled early on, in less than prominent positions or after making mistakes, until finding a break.
I expected nothing less than perfection from myself early on, because everyone around me had such high expectations. That proved to be a weakness, though it’s in the past.
