“The realm of fairy-story is wide and deep and high and filled with many things: all manner of beasts and birds are found there; shoreless seas and stars uncounted; beauty that is an enchantment, and an ever-present peril; both joy and sorrow as sharp as swords. In that realm a man may, perhaps, count himself fortunate to have wandered, but its very richness and strangeness tie the tongue of a traveler who would report them.”
J.R.R. Tolkien, On Fairy Stories
Or, one could say, a wonderful description of the collective unconscious!

Daedalus Lex,
About as close a description as possible.

I remember reading about fairies as a child. When I learned about fairy rings, I found myself hoping into the middle of every mushroom grove I could find, making simple wishes and acting as if they came true.

The Philosophical Fighter,
I was raised in the country, and ranged the bogs and woods and fields, but never saw a circle of mushrooms. You were lucky!
