“It’s a human need to be told stories. The more we’re governed by idiots and have no control over our destinies, the more we need to tell stories to each other about who we are, why we are, where we come from, and what might be possible.”
Alan Rickman
I knew Rickman was a terrific actor, now I also know he was a philosopher. His quote reminds me of Harold Clarke Goddard’s “The destiny of the world is determined less by the battles that are lost and won than by the stories it loves and believes in.”

I love Alan Rickman’s work. He left us too soon. Great quote.

David,
Yes, he did. He was great as the terrorist Hans Gruber, but it was his role as de Velara in Michael Collins that made me a fan.

Sheree,
You were lucky. He had an incredible presence on screen. I bet it was even more powerful on stage.
