“When you go mountain climbing, the first thing you’re told is not to look at the peak, but to keep your eyes on the ground as you climb. You just keep climbing patiently one step at a time. If you keep looking at the top, you’ll get frustrated. I think writing is similar.” Akira Kurosawa
A perfectly timed reminder, Mike. Thanks 🙂
Sue Vincent,
Yes, I needed that quote, too. As much as I love rewriting, getting out that first draft can be excruciating. I keep reminding myself of Kurosawa’s advice while finishing up the ms of my latest book.
Word by word. one at a time… though I never see that as drudgery.
If you fancy a change, Mike, you can always pop over with a guest post to promote your work.
The master. I am working on a book, so I needed to watch this. i really want to be an artist like him. He is my favorite.
Mike Tackett,
Kurosawa was indeed an artist. I’ve seen Seven Samurai three times, and love its step-child, Magnificent Seven.
So true. So, very true.
Yes!
