“Aim for the stars. Keep grinning. Be bloody-minded. Argue with the world. And never forget that writing is as close as we get to keeping a hold on the thousand and one things—childhood, certainties, cities, doubts, dreams, instants, phrases, parents, loves—that go on slipping, like sand, through our fingers.”
Salman Rushdie
What a wonderful quote and I reminder to enjoy what you are doing.

Colin,
I know I need occasional reminders.

How that last sentence resonates. In the fall of 1966, I heard “the palest ink is stronger than the strongest memory.” Or at least I think that is how he said it. 🤔
I keep a journal on my computer and consult it often for things “that go on slipping, like sand, through our fingers.”

Dear Mike,
This is indeed a wonderful quotation. Since the quote reminds us of the importance of writing, I would like to reciprocate with a special page of mine that deals specifically with writing. It is available at:

I welcome your input or feedback there.
Yours sincerely,
