Quote of the day

“Aim for the stars. Keep grinning. Be bloody-minded. Argue with the world. And never forget that writing is as close as we get to keeping a hold on the thousand and one things—childhood, certainties, cities, doubts, dreams, instants, phrases, parents, loves—that go on slipping, like sand, through our fingers.”

Salman Rushdie

  1. How that last sentence resonates. In the fall of 1966, I heard “the palest ink is stronger than the strongest memory.” Or at least I think that is how he said it. 🤔
I keep a journal on my computer and consult it often for things “that go on slipping, like sand, through our fingers.”

  2. Dear Mike,

This is indeed a wonderful quotation. Since the quote reminds us of the importance of writing, I would like to reciprocate with a special page of mine that deals specifically with writing. It is available at:

I welcome your input or feedback there.

    Yours sincerely,
