Especially odd is when an author public responds to a critical review with snark and defensiveness. Don’t they know that this has an almost universally negative impact on how the audience sees them?? (I’ve had many good-natured, rough-and-tumble discussions in private in both roles — writer and critic — but that’s different than a snarky public response to a reviewer.)
I agree. What I had in mind was authors who argue with editors – or worse, who insult editors for not accepting their masterwork. That is SO unprofessional – and childish.
